In honour of America’s birthday, I thought I would talk about one of our stops on our recent family vacation. I have been meaning to tell you guys all about it and given the holiday, felt inspired to blog about it today!

Over the past few years, Andrew and I have been wanting to see more of the southern states. We have been to various parts of Florida on several occasions and made a trek to Kentucky for the Derby a couple years ago, but that has been the extent of our southern expeditions. I’ve read the best time to visit is in the spring, as the temperatures are usually just right. So when our trip to Bahamas got cancelled due to a family emergency, we decided to finally take that spring vacation to a couple southern destinations that have been on our wish-list.

One of those places was Sea Island. A lovely gem we stumbled upon just weeks before our trip. Sea Island is a resort in what’s known as the golden Isles of Georgia. It is the only resort in the world to have received four Forbes Five-Star awards for nine consecutive years. It is truly world-class and very family friendly. It’s a wonderful option if you want to do something warm and beachy, outside of the typical Caribbean. Also, I would say it’s a wonderful destination for Babymooners, since it’s Zika free!

It has various accommodation options at different price points. All very unique and thoughtfully curated ambiances. We opted for a beach club suite, as it was a one bedroom, spacious and perfectly appointed space for our little family. We had a beautiful view of the ocean, an infinity pool and were just steps away from the beach club. Our kitchenette allowed us to have snacks and make food for Elle, while they also had 24 hour room service, so we could order our breakfast and feel like we were on vacation.

They have various top notch restaurants located throughout the resort and will pick you up in a golf cart to drive you to your reservation! Most are within walking distance too, if you feel like a nice evening stroll through the beautifully manicured neighbourhood. They offer tennis, golf, beach club for  kids and so much more. It’s also SUPER dog friendly. Sadie walked the beach and was a regular at the beach bar. She was basically like a little celebrity – all the beach staff knew her by name – haha!

It is about an hour from the Jacksonville airport, so it’s super convenient to get to and offered everything you need at a resort, making it easy to relax after a week of sightseeing in Charleston and Savannah. We travelled there late May and it was definitely hotter than we anticipated for that time of year. So, I think you could even go earlier in April and experience some great beach weather, although, I’m sure every year is different – considering how unpredictable our weather has been over the past few years.

It was such a lovely and relaxing spot; truly a world-class resort. One that is off the beaten path.  I highly recommend it. We already can’t wait to go back! Thanks for reading and happy 4th of July to my American friends!  We love visiting your beautiful United States of America. Xx
