One of my all-time fave classic songs is, La Vie En Rose. (English translation: life through rose coloured glasses.) I have always found this song magical. I think I relate to it, because that’s how I’ve always chosen to view life. Ever since I was a little girl I tried to look at the bright side of everything. The glass is always half full or the world is always rosy or going to get rosier (I’m definitely a Pollyanna).

That said, every Saturday, the jazz band at our restaurant, so graciously (and beautifully might I add), plays this song for me. La Vie En Rose seriously has the ability to transcend me. I feel like I could be in the 1940’s, sitting at a cafe sipping champagne or espresso, admiring the Eiffel Tower with the one I love. Ahhh, bliss…

Anywaaaaay, haha! Like the song, a current seasonal trend has us looking thru rose colour glasses too! From accessories to home decor, blush is blooming everywhere. It is one of the hottest spring/summer neutrals right now and as a bonus, it looks good on everyone! That’s right, redheads, blondes and brunettes can all wear this universally flattering shade AND wear it well!

I love the softness and femininity it exudes, in a very modern way. It’s a refined colour and so fresh! It makes a great choice for a dress to a bridal shower or an everyday coat. Also, shoes and handbags in this shade are simply, oh so pretty!

Pair it with denim jeans or denim jackets for a super pretty colour combo. The denim toughens this romantic shade up just enough, adding a lovely contrast to your outfit’s personality. (Side note, the jeans I’m wearing are by Agolde, which are founded by the creator of one of my favourite denim brands, Citizens of Humanity – they have very similar quality for a much better price point!) Work it with other basic neutrals for a contemporary, polished vibe. Or opt for feminine silhouettes and fabrics for an ultra femme, southern belle mood (think a-lines & lace).
