The Sock Boot

Silk Blouse/Dress: Club Monaco |Sweater Dress: Unavailable, but this  layered over the silk Club Monaco dress would work |  Purse: Chanel this Rebecca Miknoff is a great and affordable option | Jeans: Citizen of Humanity | Sock Bootie: Louise Cie also like these these & these white Alice & Olivia version are very mod! Also, these David’s are a classic & on sale under $100 & these Balenciaga’s are a lust!

Leave it to incredible designers, such as Balenciaga,to have created another iconic accessory that is trending hard right now. The sock boot is all the rage these days. This sleek and practical boot can look equally great dressed up or down. They are streamlined and unfussy and add the perfect polish to any ensemble. This seriously versatile boot looks equally flattering with fitted or voluminous bottoms (think skinny or boyfriend jeans, sheaths to alines). You can take them from work to a night out on the town!

The sock boot comes in different variations, from ankle to over the knee; butter soft leather to fabric; stiletto or block heels. I personally love the look of a stiletto sock boot, but a block heel is very hot right now too! My lust version are these Balenciaga leopard knife booties. Given the short window I would have to wear these, I opted to get this lovely Louise et Cie animal print version, which are currently on sale!

I love how un-bulky the sock boot feels; they cling so close to the calf, making it the perfect boot for dresses and skirt of assorts. (Think minis, midis, maxis, oh my!) These are perfect boot for warmer climate, as they are made from textiles so they are not too heavy, but for us eastern Canadians or anyone that is blessed with four seasons, the window won’t be quite as long to sport these trendy boots. That said, there are some beautiful options at all different price points and I’ve linked some of my favourites.

The only downfall of the sock boot is the short seasonal window most of us have to wear them. They can be the PERFECT all-year-round boot if you live in warmer climates, however, not so much for us fashionistas blessed with four seasons.   I’m returning from Arizona and we have a few inches of snow – ugh. I am hoping it dries up and disappears so  I can get a few more wears out of mine. That said, they are super light and easy to stash in your bag, so you can put them on when you get inside the office.
