Happy New Year! My 2019 started off great, as we wrapped up another wonderful New Year vacation with our little fam. This year we spent the holiday at a resort called, Inn by the Sea. You have probably remembered me talking about this spot in a past blog (we spent my birthday there last year. It’s a super dog friendly, luxury resort (they even have a dog menu!).
We had a super low-key NYE celebration, which was totally my speed this year! We started the evening with an early supper in the Sea Glass Restaurant at the hotel, with Sadie & Elle. Then rang in the New Year watching Time Square back in our suite, while playing scrabble. Elle woke up shortly after the New Year, so we ended up going to bed right after and taking her in with us. So it was a family sleepover, with all four of us in bed together, Elle, Sadie, Andrew & I – such great memories. 🙂
New Years Day, we did our annual nature hike. This is something we began doing a few years ago when it was just Andrew & I. Now we have Elle & Sadie to share in the tradition. It’s such a nice and healthy way to start the first day of the year and I know Sadie loves getting outside, so it’s nice to feel like we are also doing something for her!
This year we did the cliff walk around the Portland Head lighthouse. It’s so beautiful there! I just LOVE being by the ocean, especially when the waves are crashing and roaring. It makes me feel so incredibly happy. I am not sure if it’s partially to do with the fact that I grew up on an Island (Cape Breton) surrounded by ocean in every direction, but it makes me realize how amazing and creative and powerful God, the creator of the universe, truly is. It truly takes my breath away and there are no words to describe the feeling.
It was an unseasonably warm New Year’s Day in Portland. We were actually walking around in sweaters and still warm at times. There was no snow, so it was sort of nice to take the time and smell the roses. We climbed down onto the rocks and sat and listened to the waves and watched the ocean. It was a great time to reflect on 2018, while pondering 2019. I feel so blessed and thankful for all that I’ve been given: my family, health, amazing experiences and incredible opportunities to do what I love.
Every year seems to get sweeter and sweeter. I am not sure if it’s frame of mind or the simple fact that life just gets better with each passing year. Either way, I am grateful for my past & present blessings and looking forward to the amazing surprises the future holds. I trust that God has an amazing plan for my life and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2019. I am expecting amazing things! I know He’s able to exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask, think or even imagine (see below scripture). That’s a pretty incredible promise!
Ephesians 3:20 “Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in us. By this power he can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.”
