A Daytrip to the Local Zoo

Espadrilles: Steve Madden (on sale!)| Purse: Clare V. | Elle’s Denim Dress: Baby Gap | Elle’s Sneakers: Converse |Andrew’s Shirt: Vineyard Vines | Andrew’s Sneakers: SeaVees | Andrew’s Shorts: Vineyard Vines

It was one of our first hot Saturdays in New Brunswick. Our pool wasn’t totally ready (we are getting our deck stained), so it was a lovely day for a day trip. We took Elle Rose to the Cherry Brook Zoo, which is a small zoo in St. John. It had lots of interesting exotic animals (lions, tigers, zebras, etc.), but we managed to navigate it and see all the animals within an hour. Perfect time span for a tired toddler.

We stopped at a local diner and picked up some sandwiches and beverages and enjoyed a little picnic. This dress was perfect for a hot day. The midi-style was just right length and fabric is light and stretchy, making it super comfortable for mom-ing and walking around in the heat. It was a Winner’s find! I stumbled on it a couple months ago and knew it would be perfect for a spring/summer growing bump (another non-maternity dress success!). I paid $24.99, which I remember, because Andrew had to take the tag off when I was wearing the other day – lol. I got dressed in a hurry (not the first time this has happened – mom brain/life)!

I love how the stripes are subtle but give the dress some character, while also creating a flattering illusion, adding length to the body. The head-to-toe buttons also help with this (and would be great for nursing moms)! The belt is great for my hourglass shape and also helps define the bump, allowing me look pregnant and not just like I’ve put on a few extra – ha! (How many pregnant women can attest to this feeling the first few months of pregnancy?!) This dress would look equally cute with block heel sandals or white sneakers. I chose to pair it with a straw purse by Clare V. and espadrilles by Steve Madden. I have a feeling I will be wearing this duo with several outfits this summer. So comfortable & summery – plus they just ooze summer and work with so many dresses and jumpsuits.

This little dress Elle is wearing has been a staple since the warmer days have hit. I love blue on her and denim just works with everything. Such an easy piece to throw on and just looks so sweet. It can be dressed up or down. For the zoo, I paired it with her unicorn converse and two side ponytails. Such an Elle outfit.

Andrew is wearing top and shorts from Vineyard Vines. This brand is out of New England (originating in Martha’s Vineyard – speaking of which – can’t wait to go back there this summer!) His sneakers are by SeaVees (a 60’s sneaker that was revived).

I have linked details about all of our outfits above. I couldn’t find this exact dress I am wearing,  but linked some similar styles below (both maternity & non-maternity). Until next time, keep enjoying your beautiful life. Xx
