The Dress Every Girl Needs in her Closet

Shirt Dress: Michael Kors | Shoes: Steve Madden | Purse: Clare V.

I have always been a fan of the shirt dress. Not only is it a classic, but it’s just so chic and effortless. It’s hard to wear a shirt dress and not feel perfectly polished. Honestly, every girl should have at least ONE in their closet.

There are so many different variations of shirt dresses. Some are more casual, while others are more dressy. They come in cottons, linens, silks and more.  For the most part, the vast majority can be dressed up or down. This sleeveless version is non-maternity, but love that the a-line style leaves room for the early stages of a growing bump (as seen on me here).

I picked this one up at Nordstrom Rack in Portland, Maine.  I love the country club vibes it oozes with those pretty pale blue stripes (which are also elongating and flattering). So pretty & preppy.

I imagined wearing it with white tennis sneakers or white flat slide sandals, paired with a soft hued sweater around my shoulders to lend a casual preppy vibe – a look great for lunching or walking around the town. On the other hand, it can be easily dressed up as well (this example can be seen in my photos). The white block heeled sandal and a straw circle bag dress it perfectly for a summer date-night or soirée!

By the way, these sandals are so comfortable. I love the stability that comes with a block heel. It feels dressy, but easy. Perfect for pregnancy and beyond. These are also a great price.

Do you own a shirtdress? Perhaps you’re like me and own several? If you don’t, definitely look into adding one to your closet. It’s a timeless wardrobe piece that will always ensure you feel pulled-together, comfortable and feminine.

I have linked everything above. I went up a size in shirt dress to allow room for my bump. The shoes fit true to size. I have also linked some other shirt dress options below. Until next time, thanks for reading and keep enjoying your beautiful life!
