Stretch marks – mostly all women have them – let’s be serious. I mean, I have some from when I was a kid – just from growing. So, when I found out I was pregnant with Elle, I really wanted to do everything I could to prevent them during pregnancy. Luckily, we live in an era where we are more knowledgeable and have more access to products that help us with things like this.
I did a tonne of research and tried a few different products – they all seemed decent, but the one I ended up using through out my entire pregnancy with Elle was by Basqu NYC. It’s an oil made for expecting moms. It advises using once a day from the time you find out you’re pregnant. I opted to use morning and night to be safe and as far as I can see, I ended up with zero stretch marks from that pregnancy.
So naturally, this time around, I decided to go with the same product. I did try the BIO OIL for a little bit, while I was waiting for my Basq NYC to arrive. I liked the smell of it, but was afraid to try anything new. Why mess with something that already worked – right?
Basq Resilient Body Stretch Mark Oil is specially formulated for pregnancy and to nourish the stretched skin. it is made from 100% pure botanical oils blended for optimum stretch mark prevention and repair. It’s a blend of omegas, antioxidants and skin toners and comes in three scents: eucalyptus, lavender and citrus. I personally like all of the scents and mix them up from month to month, which is how long I typically get out of one 4oz bottle (using twice a day).
You can read more about it here and can order it via Amazon – I definitely recommend it. What works for me may not work for everyone, but I wouldn’t use anything else. It also recommends to use in conjunction with their exfoliator and the intensive treatment stretch mark butter.
I didn’t use an exfoliant with Elle and was fine. I did purchase the butter, but I didn’t use it all the time, because it just seemed like a lot on top of the oil twice a day (I actually still have some left). I think it’s important to use the oil right up until your uterus shrinks and your body goes back to it’s pre-pregnancy shape.
