Hey Everyone,
Hope your week is going well. Today I want to talk about a new protein powder I have begun using by FNX. They reached out to me in the New Year and asked me to be an ambassador. I receive these sort of inquiries on the regular, being a blogger, which is super fun – because I get to try a lot of cool products. However, only my faves make the blog cut.
That said, as luck would have it, I wanted to start back on a protein powder, specifically for after my reformer pilates class OR when I am too busy mumming to eat properly. It had been a few years since I had taken a protein shake regularly. There are so many of these products and companies on the market, I feel it can be overwhelming trying to choose. I also find a lot of the protein products I have tried in the past, really tasted of protein and I would never end up being consistent taking it, because I didn’t like the taste – hence would never end up finishing the product and wasting money.
The protein powder I am reviewing today is the FNX RESILIENCE (Collagen Protein) in the flavour, Brownie Batter (I also have the Pink Berry, but haven’t tried it yet, being a chocolate lover). It has 20 grams of protein and 3 grams of L-leucine and 80 Calories. I tried it first with water & ice and no other ingredients, so I could get the full taste of the powder. It was a little bland, but tasted ZERO protein.
The next time I made it with, almond milk and some other healthy ingredients and it was SO good. I feel like you could switch up the ingredients and get a delicious tasting shake, as the powder is the right amount of flavour (not too much, but just right), allowing it to take on other complimentary flavours very nicely. I think the Berry option would be great for a fruity flavour smoothie and will report back on that once I tried.
FNX offers other forms or protein shakes and pre-work out, etc. I haven’t tried those, as I went with the collagen protein, because I have also wanted to take a collagen supplement for a while, since it can assist with anti-aging.
That’s right, collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. According to research, as our bodies age, we naturally produce less of it. This decrease in supply can cause our skin to lose its elasticity, which contributes to wrinkles, fine lines, dryness, and loose or sagging skin. Studies have shown that taking collagen supplements can significantly improve skin appearance by supporting skin elasticity in as little as four weeks and reduce wrinkles in eight weeks, plus it helps protect the bones, joints, and organs, while building muscle and burning fat (sign me up).
So if you’re in the market for a new protein powder or collagen supplement, I HIGHLY recommend this one. I will include the delicious recipe I have been using and you can also use my discount code, FNXudL8 to save you 15% off your purchase!
- 1 scoop of this protein powder
- 1 half of banana
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp. honey peanut butter (if you can’t find this peanut butter you can add a bit of honey separately)
- 2 tablespoons of steel cut oats
- 4 ice cubes
Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have – happy to help in any way I can!
Also, some have messaged asking about my postpartum exercise/diet regime. Thought this is a good opportunity to share! I went back at my reformer pilates when my Doctor gave the green light to return to exercise in January. I attend classes twice a week and when I find time I will jump on the treadmill at home for a run for 20-39 minutes, although, that might have happened 4 times lol, as time is limited at the moment.
I do try to get out with Sadie for a half-hour walk a few times a week (winter is making this harder with kiddos). I am breastfeeding, so no diets allowed (not that I have EVER been a dieter). I have not been as disciplined as I would like with food. I still have a major sweet tooth, so hoping to work at that in the near future, but giving myself grace since becoming a mom a second time.
I am currently approaching four months postpartum and I am not back into my favourite jeans, yet! However, I put on more weight with this pregnancy, due to being restricted from exercising and just being more relaxed with what I ate. I might not have my abs back, but getting there and taking my time as I enjoy these precious moments with my littles.
