Did you know that statistically, about 80% of the things we worry about will never even happen. I was pondering this the other day as I see so many people full of fear during this very uncertain season. Loving a worry free life is easier than you think!

I, like many, am a natural born worrier. However, over the years I’ve learned to not let worry control my life. I have trained myself to think about what I’m thinking. When thoughts come into my head that don’t line up with scripture (what God says about me or His promises), I discard them quickly. I simply don’t let thoughts run around in my mind and fester or take root. I’m diligent about taking every thought captive.

Some things that help me with this are just being mindful to who I’m surrounding myself with or what I’m watching. For instance, feeding our minds 24 hour news cycles that are injecting nothing but fear isn’t a great tactic to combat fear.

When I feel worry creep in I don’t stew on . I immediately give it to the Lord in prayer. Then I seek His peace thru His promises and trust and know things will be okay. All of this is with the help of the Holy Spirit. I can assure you I would not be able to do it on my own.

Fear is the cousin of worry. We need to be careful not to let our lives and decisions be controlled by fear. Instead, we must remind ourselves that fear isn’t from God. The Bible says, for God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

As believers we DO NOT have to fear or worry, because God goes before us and He is with us through it all (Deuteronomy 31:8). We just need to lean into his promises and trust and know He is God (Psalm 46:10). I find it easier and easier to do this as He proves His faithfulness over and over in my life.

Knowing God and His word is key to combatting fear and worry. One way we get to know God is by spending time in his word. That’s where all the truth and His promises are (they are for us!). When we know and understand God’s promises and His goodness, we have an unshakable confidence and it becomes increasingly difficult to worry.

I encourage you to dive into the word of God if you haven’t before. Find a good devotional or watch some good teachings online. Make it a part of your daily routine to know Him with regular prayer. We have never needed peace in our hearts more than right now. The enemy of our soul wants us to worry and be afraid. He doesn’t want us to enjoy our life, but Christ came so we could live life to the full (John 10:10)!

Have a great week! Happy Monday! Xx

Prayer Starter: Lord, please help me to give everything to You that I’m worried about! Allow your peace to wash over me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
