Leaving a Legacy

Easter has always been one of my favourite holidays. As a child I enjoyed all the smells and sights of spring. The chocolate bunnies and outdoor presents, like skipping ropes, chalk and bubbles. My mother would always buy me a nice new easters outfit and some rainbows or rain coat. Lots of fond memories as a little girl and the only thing better is I get to relive similar feelings from my childhood with my little girls.

Elle and Ivy are growing so fast. Like their mamma, Easter is one of their favourite holidays (I think Elle actually likes it better than Christmas). There is definitely some excitement over the easter bunny and hunting for easter eggs, but like Christmas, we ensure the girls know all about the first Easter and what it really means.

Easter celebration is so special. It offers us so much hope. OurJesus Christ, the saviour of the world, died and rose again, so that we would have eternal life and life more abundantly on earth. I love how we can compare friday’s dissapointment to sunday’s empty tomb to so many situations we find ourselves in. When I am struggling in a season, I remind myself, it might be Friday, but Sunday is coming! Whooohoooo – that gets my spirit so stirred up.

These are the truths we share with Elle and Ivy, because someday, if we happen not to be here, God’s word, thru our teaching and example, will live on on their hearts. God’s word is eternal. Proverbs 22:6 tells us if we train up our children in the way they should go, when they are old, they will not depart from it. I am a product of that promise and my parent’s faith in that promise and many other promises from God. I want to pass those same values and truths onto my children.

In my opinion, that is a legacy leaving. It’s an inheritance I received, more valuable than silver or gold or anything else this world has to offer. Thankful for my savour and looking forward to celebrating Him and what He did for us on the cross this coming Easter weekend.
