Hey Everyone! I hope you’re having a great week. I have been super busy with family, travel and work this month. Between hosting out-of-town guests and travelling, along with new clients and contracts, it has been a whirlwind. Such a wonderful time, but also an exhausting few weeks. I consider myself an introverted-extrovert or social-introvert. I love people and social gatherings, but time to recharge my batteries is mandetory. So, that’s what I’m doing today (aside from unpacking and writing – haha), before I start a very busy work season tomorrow.

On the topic of personalities, did you know that everyone also has a style personality? Did you know that wearing clothes that suit your personality will ensure that you are always comfortable and confident (the most important, yet intangible, fashion accessory). Your personal style is what impacts why you like certain garments and dislike others.  It is this aspect of your personality which will help you understand why, no matter how hard you have tried to look like someone else, it just doesn’t work.

Knowing your personal style can make your life so much easier on so many levels. It will keep you focused when shopping, helping you avoid impulse purchases. It will enable you to feel more confident in your fashion choices for important events. It will help reinforce your personal brand and allow you to stand out as your own unique individual self and so much more.

This yellow gingham dress I am wearing is a design from one of my favourite fashion bloggers, Rachel Parcell . This girl understands her style personalty and she exemplifies that in every detail of her Rachel Parcell brand. Her personal brand absolutely, positively, echos who she is and that is what connects with her customers. I really love her stuff. It’s romantic and feminine and oh so pretty and that resonates with my own personal style.

I have bought a few of her pieces on occasion and I always get compliments when I’m wearing them! This dress in particular has been a huge hit this summer. I took a gamble with it, because usually anything with ruffles doesn’t always suit me, but she designed this in a way that all the elements work for me.  I’m not sure if it’s the ruffle placement, gingham or the wrap style, or all the above, but it works for me.

My sister, on the other hand, loved this dress when she saw it on me. She was going to order it in blue, but said she would try mine first for size. Knowing my sisters personal style, I knew ruffles were not her thing, at all. But I let her try it out of curiosity, since I didn’t think it would be my thing either. Sure enough, it looked completely different on her, than me. It was not flattering at all, mainly because it didn’t fit with her style personalty on various levels (pattern, frills, proportions, etc). Needless to say, we both took one look and said, nope!

Has this ever happened to you? Do you know  and understand your style personality? What does your personal style say about you? Do you prefer comfort, classics, quality? Are you more quirky, girlie or sexy? Perhaps you have never thought about any of this before? If not, and you would like some direction, check out our services at Requisite Consulting to see how we can help you with this, personal branding and so much more! Thanks for reading and have a wonderful week!
