Skin Care Faves (Sephora Spring Sale)

Hi Everyone,

I trust you’re having a good week. In celebration of Sephora’s annual spring sale, I wanted to put together a blog sharing some of my favourite skin care products. This will be a 3 part blog series, beginning with skincare, then I will follow those up with hair care and make-up!

Let me just say, this sale is a GREAT time to stock up on your beauty faves or to try some new products you have been eying. For the most part, these beauty products never go on sale. Plus, with all this “staying home” – selfceare has never felt so good!

That said, let’s jump onto my favourites, tried and true skincare products starting with what I wash my face with….

Morning Routine:

In the morning, I don’t generally wash my face with a cleanser. I typically will use this vitamin brightening cleanser.  I love it so much! It smells great and is a very large bottle that lasts really long. I also use it to take off any eye make-up residue after I have washed my face.

After I wash my face in the morning, I usually apply this Tatcha essence plumping skin softener, and I have to say, it’s a bit pricy, but it lasts a long time. I had used the same bottle and it lasted for 8 months (applying twice a day). It helps plump skin and also prep for other products. After that, I use the C-firma vitamin C day serum by Drunk Elephant. I just purchased this a couple months ago. I think it’s important to use a Vitamin C serum in your beauty routine for anti-aging. I have tried a few (I also like skinscuticals which isn’t available at Sephora), but this is the most reasonably priced for value thus far.

After that I apply this eye serum, which I just purchased and have been liking a lot! Then my eye cream. I recently started using this Tatcha, but I tend to switch up eye creams. The one I was using prior to that was this one.

After I apply my eye cream, I apply my face cream. I have been using this one by Tatcha for over a year. It is pregnancy safe, so I started using it when I was pregnant with Ivy and really like it. I also used this Silk one by Tatcha, which is also pregnancy and nursing friendly. I really liked it, but it’s a bit pricy, so went back to the Dewy version. One downfall to Tatcha face creams is that I feel they don’t last long. I tend to go thru them quicker than others. They do provide a little spoon to use, which rations it, but I just feel it’s not enough for my normal to dry skin. That said, I do really like the results and that it’s nursing friendly.

After that I typically apply a beauty oil by Tatcha. I started using this one in January and love it! It has gold flecks in it. I really like the smell and the way it makes my skin glow.

After all that, I apply my SPF. I used to use a CC cream that had SPF in it and I LOVE it, but it’s not pregnancy or nursing friendly, so I had to switch to a new foundation (will discuss this in make-up blog). So I found a pregnancy friendly SPF and use that before I apply my make-up. You should definitely be wearing SPF especially if you’re using a Vitamin C serum. I really like this one by Drunk Elephant, as it doesn’t feel heavy and actually makes my foundation go on nicely.

Night Routine:

For night, if I had eye make up on, I use the Laneige Eye and Lip make-up remover. It is especially great for long lasting lipsticks and I have even used it to take the red wine stains on my lips. I then wash my face with one of three cleansers (listed below in recap).

I follow using this toner, as it’s an exfoliant and preps my skin nicely. I have noticed a big difference in my skin texture since using this actually, really like it (more on this below).

Followed by Tatcha essence plumping skin softener. Before I put my face cream on, I usually try to use my eye serums and eye cream. As this is apparently the eye cream helps create a barrier so that the face cream doesn’t go near the delicate eye area. I use the same serum and eye cream in the PM as AM, my Drunk Elephant eye serum and Tatcha eye cream. Then I add my face cream.

Finally, I finish with my Laneige Sleep Lip Mask! This little jar lasts so long! I have had it for almost a year and I use it every night.

Lastly, sometimes I put my Tatcha beauty oil on too. I use this when I feel my skin needs extra hydration or when I am opting to wear no make-up, as it gives a nice glow.

Basically, my skin routine in PM is similar to AM, except I use different toners and I don’t use the Vitamin C Serum at night.

So, to recap, these are the products and some reasons why I love them…

Cleansers:

I will admit, I tend to jump around with face wash. Lately, I have been using Youth to the People Superfood Antioxident (I bought the small size to try and have been liking it). Tatcha Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser (which I have also purchased in the small size to try). Lastly, I received a sample of Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser and have really liked it too! When I finish with the three, I am not sure if I will buy a large bottle of just one of them or pick up the smaller versions again to switch it up. The Youth to the people and Tatcha smell really good. I like that the Tatcha has an exfoliant in it and I love that the Youth to the People is supposed to help with PH levels. I feel like the Drunk Elephant makes my pores look smaller! So they are all great in their own ways.

Toners:

Fresh Rose & Hyraluronic Acid Deep Hydration Toner : this is my day toner or my want to feel pretty toner)

img_9599

Bosica Resurfacing Treatment Toner: I use this at night. To be completely transparent, I have not issues with a little help of botox, however, since I have been either pregnant or nursing for the last several years, I have only had botox once in 4+ years. This has helped me feel I am keeping wrinkles at bay like no other product. I just began using it a couple months ago and noticed a difference right away!

Laneige Vitamin Brightening Cleansing Water: This is not really a toner, but I do use it in the morning in leu of my toner. I only use a toner after I cleanse with an actual face Cleanser

Face Creams:

Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream: I use this in AM

Crème de la Mer: I use this in PM

Eye Creams:

Tatcha Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream: I use this mostly all the time now, day and night.

Fresh Black Tea Firming and Depuffing Eye Cream: I used this for over a year and really liked it, but since I started using many products from the Tatcha skincare line I thought I would switch to try their eye cream. This Fresh eye cream is also very good tho and has great reviews!

Serums:

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum: I switched from the Skinscuticals Vitamin C Serum, to try this one, as it’s slightly less expensive. So far, I like it, but will know more when I finish the bottle.

Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Firming Eye Serum: Just recently started using this under my eye cream. I think it’s working, but will know more in a few weeks. It has great reviews, but keep in mind, this is a serum. It doesn’t replace your eye cream.

Tatcha Gold Camellia Beauty Oil: I use this after my moisturizer for extra hydration or on the days I don’t wear make-up I will put this on. Love it. Gives your skin an instant glow.

Herbivore Coco Rose Coconut Body Polish: I love this body exfoliator. It smells so pretty and my skin feels so soft after I use it! The altimate at home body treatment.

Well, for the most part, I think that covers it all! I do a lot of research on my beauty products before I even buy to try them. These have all had great reviews. I will also let you know that all these are either pregnancy or nursing friendly. I check all that out before using, because I was pregnant with Ivy and still breastfeeding. If you have any specific questions on any of these, comment below and I would be happy to help! If you have used any of the products listed, would love to hear what you think as well.

Up next is hair care! Until then, happy shopping and stay well!
